Samtengang Trek - 12 Days

Trek Level:  Easy
Best Season: March to May and September to December

Samtengang trekking (Samtan Gang trekking) or one of the easier low altitude winter treks in Bhutan. It is an excellent trek for the beginners, and can be finished within 3-4 days. We will be passing the several villages, the forest of rhododendron and oak trees, paddy fields, monastery, lake, and many more. This trek also provides the glimpse of Bhutanese culture. If we do this trek, in the month of March, we can see the Rhododendron flowers in full bloom and sometimes the orchids also


ITINERARY


Day 01: Arrive Paro
Day 02: In Paro
Drive to Drukgyal Dzong, a ruined fortress which is 16 kilometers away from Paro Town. Although in ruins, this Dzong is of great historical importance. It was here that the Bhutanese finally defeated the invading Tibetans and drove them back. From here, the peak of Jumolhari "Mountain of the Goddess" can be seen on a clear day (7,329 meters). After lunch visit Rinpung Dzong, National Museum and Kichu Lhakhang. Kichu Lhakhang is the oldest and the most sacred shrine of Bhutan built in 8th century by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. In the evening take a leisurely stroll in Paro town. Overnight Paro Hotel. Day 03: Paro to Thimphu
Day 04: Thimphu Sightseeing
Visit Tashichho Dzong, the main Government Secretariat building, where the government ministries, the Office of His Majesty the King and the Throne Room, the offices and living quarters of the monk body and the Chief Abbot are housed. Wander in the town, visit shops and the Handicrafts Emporium, where Bhutanese textiles and other handicrafts are available. Visit the painting and woodcrafts schools where traditional painting and other arts are kept alive. Visit the National Library and see the ancient manuscripts preserved there. Visit the Simtokha Dzong (6 kilometers from Thimphu), the oldest Dzong in Bhutan built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1629 A.D. Evening: Relax in the hotel or stroll in the town. Day 05: Thimphu to Trongsa
Day 06: Trongsa to Jakar (Bumthang)
Day 07: In Bumthang
Visit the Dairy Farm, Swiss cheese Factory and Apple Juice Factory. Walk around Bumthang valley in preparation for the excursion to Ngang Lhakhang. Overnight Bumthang Hotel.
Day 08: Trek start Bumthang to Ngang Lhakhang
Day 09: Ngang Lhakhang to Ugyenchholing
Day 10: Trek end Ugyenchholing to Jakar
Day 11: Jakar to Trongsa
Day 12: Trongsa to Thimphu
Day 13: Drop you to Paro International Airport

Dagala Thousand Lakes Trekking The route is particularly rich in bird species, alpine flowers, musk deer and attractive meadows make this trek a wonderful experience. Dagala mountain range divides two prominent valleys of Thimphu and wangdi. The altitude of the plateau is around 4000 meters. It has many lakes of different sizes and in most lakes one can find trout fish. The route also present fascinating views of prominent eastern Himalayan peaks such as Mountain Everest, Mountain Kanchenjunga, Jhomolhari, Jichu Drake, Masagang, Tseda Gang and Gangchhenta.. The plateau is also a grazing ground for yaks in summer.
